To optimize the use of the core skills and capabilities of the Centre, the focus is on a small number of carefully selected projects with strong commercial potential.

What can CIMTEC do for me?

CIMTEC offers a broad array of services to help translate medical imaging innovations into commercial products and clinical applications.

• We help you develop your innovation: We can help you with engineering design issues such as mechatronics and motion control; imaging processing as applied to medical and pathology images; systems and procedures; visualization, such as interface development, multimodality 3D imaging, image quantification; and protoype development.
• We help you validate and test your innovation: We can help you establish benchmarks for validating your innovation; facilitate design and usability interactions with clinicians; and assist with clinical testing and trials, including trial design and implementation.
• We provide business advice: We can help you prepare a business plan, prepare for regulatory review and give you advice on the commercialization process.

How do I know if CIMTEC can help me?

CIMTEC has established two primary criteria for its involvement:

First, your innovation must be past the discovery stage; you must have completed proof-of-principle work.

Second, your innovation must involve be a novel and competitive development in the field of medical imaging, including digital pathology and image guided interventions.

What is the process for involving CIMTEC in my work?

CIMTEC has created a process for assessing innovations, whether put forward by researchers or companies, for its involvement.

The process involves evaluation by staff at CIMTEC to determine whether this is a project CIMTEC is able to take on. It might be that you need advice and referrals to others who can help you better. If you do need CIMTEC’s services, we will work with you to determine how best to proceed. We will then develop a contract that sets out all the details.
