Overview 

Accountable for all commercialization activities within the Centre.

Responsibilities 

 

Commercialization

  • Collaborate with Science and Commercialization Advisory Committee (SCAC) to create policies and procedures.
  • Screen all applications in collaboration with Centre experts to ensure they are complete and meet the mandate of the Centre. Forward eligible applications to SCAC for review.
  • Develop strategies to assist small imaging companies grow their business.
  • Provide business advice and IP review on external projects.
  • Collaborate on development of Business Plan for fee-for-services offerings.
  • Develop links to Executive-In-Residence (EIR) programs to offer expert support for the development of investor-ready business plans and pitches.

IP Management

  • Create policies for management of Intellectual Property (IP).
  • Act as resource for CImTeC staff and external clients regarding the management and ownership of IP.
  • Manage internal IP procedures.

Planning and Administration

  • Accountable for creation of database of long-term investors and strategic partners that may be utilized when required.
  • Oversee continuous improvement activities by driving the implementation of process and quality improvement initiatives.

 

Support and Collaboration

  • Partners
    • Establish close working relationship with the Commercialization Office of Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR)
    • Grow partnership with Health Technology Exchange (HTX) and the Health Technology Commercialization Program (HTCP)
    • Cultivate new partnerships with outside agencies
  • CImTeC personnel
    • Collaborate with SCAC, Technology Development Core Leader, Technology Validation Core Leader, Centre Director and Associate Director to create Business and Marketing Plan for fee-for-services offerings
    • Work with Director of Operations to compile list of potential external clients
  • External contacts
    • Develop relationships with industry leaders and potential clients
    • Field questions from clients as they relate to commercialization and IP management
Education 

 

Undergraduate university degree in science, business, marketing or equivalent, and Graduate Engineering, Science, or MBA degree 

Experience 
  • Minimum of five years business management experience in similar environment.
  • Experience in commercialization of medical innovation.
  • Marketing experience.
  • IP management experience.
Specialized Skills or Knowledge 
  • Evidence of entrepreneurial aptitude or accomplishments
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements as they may apply to new product development.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements as they relate to IP ownership and management.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong business development skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively manage competing and demanding deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively under stress.
